The honest guide to pressure washing for Worcestershire homeowners.
A proper pressure wash can take 10 years off a tired driveway, patio or render wall in a single afternoon. At Cathedral Landscapes we use commercial-grade hot-water pressure washers, rotary surface cleaners and soft wash systems across Worcester, Malvern, Droitwich, Pershore and Upton-upon-Severn – with the right approach matched to the surface so we lift the grime without damaging the finish underneath.
How much does pressure washing cost in 2026?
• Driveway pressure wash – specialist rotary cleaner, priced per area
• Patio & pathway pressure wash – priced per area
• Block paving re-sanding – essential after washing, priced per area
• Driveway / patio sealing – protective upgrade, priced per area
• Decking clean (with controlled pressure) – priced per area
• Render soft wash – specialist low-pressure clean, priced per area
• Roof soft wash & moss treatment – quoted per visit

What we can pressure wash
Driveways – block paving, tarmac, concrete, pattern imprinted concrete (PIC), resin bound (gentle rinse only). Rotary surface cleaner for even finish, hot water on stubborn oil stains.
Patios – Indian sandstone, porcelain, concrete flag, natural stone. Controlled pressure to avoid etching softer stones.
Pathways – same surfaces as patios. Often pressure washed at the same time as the patio it leads to.
Decking – carefully, with the correct nozzle and pressure to clean without lifting fibres or damaging the timber surface. Often paired with a re-stain or re-oil afterwards.
Render walls – soft wash with biocide treatment, never high pressure (which can damage the render finish). Removes algae, lichen and atmospheric staining.
Roof tiles – soft wash plus moss kill. Removes the unsightly green/black staining and treats the underlying biological growth so it stays clear for longer.
Pressure wash, soft wash – what's the difference?
Pressure wash – high pressure water (1,500 to 3,000 psi typical) physically lifts dirt from hard surfaces. Right for driveways, patios and pathways. Wrong for render, roofs, soft sandstone and decking.
Soft wash – low pressure (under 500 psi) combined with a biocide cleaning solution. Kills algae, moss and lichen at the root and lifts staining gently. Right for render, roof tiles, soft stones and where the underlying surface needs protecting.
Using the wrong technique is the single biggest source of pressure-wash damage we see – blasted render, stripped concrete and washed-out block paving joints. We always assess and use the right approach.
Should I seal after washing?
Sealing a block paving or concrete driveway after washing is a meaningful upgrade. It locks in fresh jointing sand, prevents weed germination, resists oil and tyre marks, intensifies the colour, and significantly extends the time before the next wash is needed. Sealing takes 2 to 3 hours plus 24 hours to dry and is priced per area in your itemised quote. We do not recommend sealing resin bound driveways – the resin already seals the aggregate.

Step 3
Most driveway pressure washes are completed in 3 to 5 hours. Add 2 to 3 hours if sealing is included.
Pricing depends on the surface, the area covered and any add-ons (re-sanding, sealing). Render and roofs are quoted per visit. Every quote is written and itemised.
Every 1 to 2 years for block paving and concrete. Resin bound rarely needs more than a rinse. Heavily shaded surfaces with algae growth may need yearly washing.
Not with the right technique. Damage comes from using too high a pressure or wrong nozzle on softer materials. We use rotary surface cleaners at controlled pressure for block and concrete, soft wash for delicate surfaces.
Low pressure (under 500 psi) with a biocide treatment to kill algae, moss and lichen at the root. Right for render, roof tiles, soft stones and anywhere high pressure would damage the surface.
Yes. Pressure washing removes jointing sand. We re-sand and re-vibrate as standard unless you tell us otherwise.
3 to 5 hours for a typical 40 m² double driveway including re-sanding. Sealing adds 2 to 3 hours plus 24 hours to dry.
Recommended for block paving and concrete – locks in sand, prevents weeds, resists stains, extends wash interval. Priced per area in your itemised quote. Not needed on resin bound driveways.
Driveways, patios, paths, decking, render walls, roof tiles, patio furniture, garden walls. Right technique per surface.
